There are several versions of a DIY marker storage system using plastic egg crate sheets as dividers. These hard plastic grid-like sheets are designed to be light diffusers and can be purchased at your local Home Depot or Lowe’s and cut to size. However they are rather expensive and often are only available in packs of 5 or more. Still, if you and a friend or two share a love of markers, you could split the cost and have a little fun creating your own unique versions of these storage solutions, some ideas for them being shown below:
Perhaps the most detailed instructions for this marker storage project can be found on Life Through My Eyes by Rick Rosenshein. On that page, he shows not only many pictures and details for creating your own marker storage using the egg crate sheets, but also some pics of his other storage solutions.
Another instructional page can be found on To Cut or Color by bhelenj, who also has links to other relevant pages and products.
A pre-made version of this storage container can be purchased through the URL given on Scrappin’ With Chriss and Lou. You can also buy the product directly on Etsy from the seller she recommends, appearing as fargets on Etsy. Their version costs $65 USD plus $17 shipping and holds all 358 colors of Copic marker. This is a pretty good deal actually, as Copic’s own version (a soft-sided carrying case) sells on Amazon for over $100.
Finally, you can see the fabric-sided version of this container (pic in the gallery above) at sajludwig by Sheila James Ludwig.
